ArtIsInFormation ("Company", "we", "us", or "our") operates the Maplable platform at maplable.com (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service.

By using Maplable you consent to the data practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Service.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Service

  • Monitor usage patterns to improve performance and features

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the following circumstances:

  • Service Providers: Third-party vendors that help us operate the Service (e.g., Stripe for payments, email delivery services, hosting providers). These parties are contractually bound to use your data only for the services they provide to us.
  • Map Tile Providers: When you load map tiles, your browser may send requests directly to third-party tile servers (e.g., Cesium Ion, OpenStreetMap). Those requests are subject to those providers' privacy policies.
  • Legal Requirements: If required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
  • Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case your information may be transferred as part of the transaction.
  • With Your Consent: When you explicitly authorize sharing (e.g., sharing a project via a public link).

4. Cookies & Tracking

We use a minimal set of cookies:

  • Session Cookie (PHPSESSID): Essential for authentication. HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Lax. Expires when you close the browser.
  • CSRF Token: Protects against cross-site request forgery.
  • reCAPTCHA (optional): Google reCAPTCHA v3 may set cookies to distinguish humans from bots during signup. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.

We do not use third-party advertising or behavioral tracking cookies.

5. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including:

  • HTTPS/TLS encryption for all connections
  • Password hashing using industry-standard algorithms (bcrypt)
  • CSRF protection and rate limiting
  • Restricted access to databases and admin tools

No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal, tax, or accounting purposes. De-identified, aggregated analytics data may be retained indefinitely.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Delete your account and associated data
  • Export your data in a portable format (e.g., GeoJSON project exports)
  • Object to or restrict certain processing activities
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected data from a child, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

9. International Users

Maplable is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those of your jurisdiction. By using the Service, you consent to such transfer.

10. Third-Party Links

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via email or a prominent notice on the Service. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
